Brenda’s Geek Cred

I attended York University between 1999 and 2004, first in the Space & Communications Science program, and then switching into Physics and Astronomy. I worked in the campus observatory as a tour guide and telescope operator, and spent a few years on the executive of the York University Astronomy Club. I burned out and didn’t finish school, even when trying to take it slow, so as a result I don’t have a degree. I have a little bit more than half a degree, hence the title of this blog.

Today I wear the badge of ‘amateur astronomer’ with pride, and I’m a member of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada. Before university I was the librarian for the RASC’s Kingston, Ontario centre, and now I’m a councillor-at-large for the Toronto centre. Come to a meeting sometime and say hi. I’ll probably be hanging out by the refreshments table.
